Dr. Yimin D. Zhang is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the director of the Advanced Signal Processing Lab. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. Prior to joining Temple University, he was a research professor at the Center for Advanced Communications, Villanova University, where he directed the Wireless Communications and Positioning Lab and the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Lab. His general research interests lie in the areas of statistical signal and array processing, time-frequency analysis, compressive sensing, and convex optimization for applications in wireless communications, radar, satellite navigation, and assisted living. Dr. Zhang has been a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator of more than $6M grants and contracts from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA). Dr. Zhang has authored and coauthored more than 300 journal and conference papers and 14 book chapters. He is an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, an editor for the Signal Processing journal, a member of both the Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing (SAM) Technical Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, and a member of the Signal Processing Theory and Methods (SPTM) Technical Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a Senior Member of SPIE. He received the 2016 IET Radar, Sonar and Navigation Premium Award, the 2017 IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society Harry Rowe Mimno Award, and coauthored a paper that received the 2018 IEEE Signal Processing Society Young Author Best Paper Award.
