Welcome to a new academic year at Temple University College of Engineering!
From those of you joining us for the first time to those returning to continue your engineering journey, I'm excited to welcome you to our community. Whether this summer you gained career experience, traveled, or caught up with friends and family, I hope you have returned energized and ready to embrace the new school year.
To our newest students: welcome to Temple Engineering! This semester is my first as dean, and I am grateful to begin this new chapter alongside you. We are joining a community leveraging curiosity and problem solving to make an impact in the world. Our faculty, staff, and fellow students are all invested in your success, and I encourage you to approach them so they can help you. Get involved! Join one of our student organizations where you can form lifelong friendships and connections.
To our returning students: welcome back! In my short time here, I am impressed by stories of your accomplishments and the impacts you are making on our communities and world. I look forward to engaging with you this year and seeing how you apply your skills to solve new challenges.
I was drawn to Temple by its mission as a public, urban research university. Temple opens doors to talented students from diverse backgrounds. Building from a strong foundation, our college will continue to grow opportunities in research and hands-on learning. We will strengthen community and industry partnerships and establish new industry connections, working to connect you to career-relevant experiences.
I encourage you to connect with fellow students and student organizations, and to say yes to opportunities to participate in campus life. While your coursework is key in developing your technical and professional skills, many of your most meaningful connections and memorable experiences in college will occur outside the classroom!
I am honored to join you as part of the Temple community and excited to meet many of you in the weeks ahead.
Here's to a successful semester and an outstanding year!
