• Participants are expected to commit for a period of around six months (October - April)

Mentors and mentees are expected to be present at all major program events, including:

• Attendance at all trainings
  • Mentors attend virtually
  • Mentees attend in-person
• Kick-off event
  • Hybrid virtual and in-person attendance
• Closing celebration
  • In-person attendance only

• Meeting with partner in person or online at least once a month for the duration of the program
• Checking in weekly with partner through email or phone calls
• Checking in monthly with the program administrator via monthly topic emails
• Submitting activity logs and complete evaluation forms mid-point and at the end of the program

After applying to be a part of the program, you will be matched with a student whose requested criteria reflects your professional accomplishments and career path. You will be alerted the match has been made, and an introductory email will be sent to both you and the student from the Office Development and Alumni Relations. From there, you and the student will agree on a mutually beneficial time to meet.

You should expect to spend about an hour meeting one-on-one with your matched student. If, after your initial meeting, you are interested in continuing to mentor the student, you can determine how you want to stay in touch. If you do not wish to continue in a mentorship role, please notify the alumni office of your dissentient.

You have been matched with a student because your career path matches their future interests. In your one-on-one conversation, you can best support a student by answering their questions about their future goals, sharing information that you wish someone had told you early in your career, and being supportive.

Each student should come prepared with a list of questions for you, but you may want to plan to cover topics such as:

• What are your goals post-graduation?
• What type of field are you interested in working in?
• What are your plans for after graduation?

Students are encouraged to keep the meetings they schedule. However, if an emergency should arise and they are no longer able to make it they are instructed to send an email as soon as possible. To connect with a College of Engineering graduate or Industry Partner and seek advice as you navigate your journey as an engineering student.

After applying to be a part of the program, you will be matched with a TUCoE graduate or Industry partner. The criteria you provide will be taken into consideration when making a match. An introductory email will be sent to both you and the alum from the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. From there, you and the alum will agree on a mutually beneficial time to meet.

In your one-on-one conversation, you can best support a student by answering their questions about their future goals, sharing information that you wish someone had told you early in your career, and being supportive.

• In looking back at your time as a CoE student is there anything you would do differently? What would you do the same?

• How can I make myself stand out among a large group of students?

You are encouraged to keep the meeting date and time you set up with your mentor. However, if an emergency should occur and you are no longer able to attend, please notify your mentor and Krystal Lespinasse, assistant director of development and alumni relations, as soon as possible. At that time, it is suggested you also provide additional dates and time you are available to reschedule the meeting.
