A warm welcome back to the College of Engineering community!
I always love celebrating the new year and the start of the spring semester. A fresh start in the middle of an academic year provides an opportunity to look back and celebrate past accomplishments while planning the journey ahead. With some well-deserved rest, I hope you all are ready to join your fellow engineers and get back to work!
There was amazing success throughout our College in 2025. We reignited our student-alum/industry partners mentorship program, with plans for more engagement in the coming year. A faculty member and graduate student won an award for innovative research and several faculty members are collaborating with the College of Science and Technology on a recent NSF award.
While the start of a new year brings a lot of joy, I must admit the beginning of this semester is bittersweet for me. In August I announced that I would be stepping down as dean at the end of the academic year. As I begin my last semester as dean, I look back at the transformation of the College over the years and feel immense pride. Support from a dedicated engineering community, made up of hardworking students, faculty, staff and alumni is the driving force behind this growth, and it’s been the honor of a lifetime to serve as your dean.
With that said, I hope you’ll join me in making this semester one to be proud of. Let’s get back to it!
