This week marks the creation of a new Department of Engineering, Technology, and Management after approval by the Temple University Board of Trustees. The new department will serve as the academic home of existing degree programs focused on industrial practice: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Master of Science in Engineering Management.

Dr. Thomas Edwards, Director of the Engineering Management Program, will be the Interim Chair for the new department. His previous experience includes both doctoral research in organizational innovation and as top management with a NYSE-listed company.

Dr. Julie Drzymalski, Ph.D., PEM, a member of the new department, will be the inaugural program director of the recently-created Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering, now under the new department's purview. Dr. Drzymalski joins the department from Drexel University, where she served as Clinical Professor and Program Director, Systems Engineering and Engineering Management.

"We are excited to debut this new department and continue to prepare our students to meet the evolving needs of industry," said Keya Sadeghipour, Dean of the College of Engineering.

"After creating the Industrial and Systems Engineering BS program, bringing these programs together under one home, with a clear focus, is a logical next step for us," added Edwards.

"The ISE program will be a key component of this new department," Drzymalski said. "We hope to keep instruction not just relevant, but ahead of the curve."
