Prof. Xiaonan Lu

Temple Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Xiaonan Lu, was recently named IEEE Philadelphia Section Delaware Valley Young Electrical Engineer of the Year.

Dr. Lu's research focuses largely on power electronics and power systems, with special emphasis on smart grids. He has secured more than $1 million in research funding from government agencies and leading industry companies since joining Temple University.

"Dr. Lu's research contributions are at the forefront of recent advances in power electronic control of AC and DC microgrid for enhanced resiliency and sustainable power restoration," said Dr. Saroj Biswas, Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at Temple College of Engineering, who nominated Dr. Lu for the award.

Dr. Lu's research achievements are highly visible, and his feature publications on power electronics dominated microgrids and power systems have received more thanĀ 3,000 citations. Five of his technical papers published in leading journals received recognition from the Web of Science SCI database as among the "Top 1% Highly Cited Papers."
