The College of Engineering provides middle and high school students opportunities to learn about engineering and other applied science careers through STEM Education. We are Pennsylvania’s designated hub for the nationally recognized Mathematics, Engineering & Science Achievement (MESA) program, which serves nearly 50,000 regional K-12 students each year.
Dedicated staff, engineering students and volunteers from a wide variety of science, technology, engineering and math backgrounds guide pre-college students through programs that increase knowledge about careers that support the world's critical infrastructure—access to clean water, nutritious food, healthy living and renewable energy.
For schools interested in the award winning MESA after school program, please review the MESA Advisors Handbook and other resources.
Our purpose is to engage students who are underrepresented in STEM fields, and motivate them to persist in these lucrative, high demand careers. In addition to the MESA initiative, the College of Engineering is also home to the Center for Inclusive Competitiveness.
