Dr. Avner Ronen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Temple University. Prior to joining Temple University, Dr. Ronen was a BARD postdoctoral fellow in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Riverside under the mentorship of Dr. David Jassby and Dr. Sharon Walker where he worked on electrochemical wastewater treatment using electroconductive membranes . He received her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology mentored by Dr. Carlos Dosoretz and Dr. Raphael Semiat. His Ph.D. research focused on developing a modified feed spacer with antibacterial qualities for biofouling prevention in RO membrane systems. This work resulted in 2 patent applications. Before starting his Ph.D., Dr. Ronen worked as a research and development engineer at an aerospace company. Previously he completed his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering at the Technion, working on advanced polymer fabrication processes for ballistic protection. His current research focuses on the development of electrically conductive membranes based on nanomaterials for enhancing membrane separation abilities and enabling advanced oxidation/reduction processes coupled with membrane processes.
