Bio

Dr. Fauzia Ahmad received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997 from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Temple University, she was a Research Professor and the Director of the Radar Imaging Lab with the Center for Advanced Communications, College of Engineering, Villanova University. Her research interests lie in the areas of statistical signal and array processing, radar signal processing and imaging, ultrasound imaging, waveform design and diversity, source localization/tracking, and compressive sensing. She has six book chapters and over 200 journal and conference papers in the aforementioned areas. Dr. Ahmad has been a Principal Investigator and a Co-Principal Investigator on various projects with the total research awards exceeding $6.5M. These projects have been funded by the Army Research Office, Army Research Laboratory, Air Force Research Laboratory, Office of Naval Research, Defense Advanced Research Project Agency, National Science Foundation, and Defence Research and Development Canada. Dr. Ahmad is an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and IEEE Geoscience Remote Sensing Letters. She also serves on the Editorial boards of the IET Radar, Sonar, & Navigation and SPIE/IS&T Journal of Electronic Imaging. Dr. Ahmad is a member of the Radar Systems Panel of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society (AESS), a member of the Sensor Array and Multichannel Technical Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, and a member of the Electrical Cluster of the Franklin Institute Committee on Science and the Arts. She chairs the SPIE Compressive Sensing Conference Series and the IEEE AESS Philadelphia Chapter.
