Beginning in Fall 2015, the college will offer a B.S. in Environmental Engineering

The College of Engineering is pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees recently approved the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering (BS EnvE). The college currently offers a concentration in environmental engineering within the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. With the increased demand for environmental engineers the college developed a new undergraduate degree within this area. The aim of the 124 credit degree program is to produce graduates with the theoretical and practical ability to research, analyze, design and evaluate engineering systems and address society's growing energy needs and their nexus with water and the environment. The program includes credits in mathematics, science and engineering.

Although the undergraduate program will be new, the college has offered graduate degree programs in environmental engineering for several years. Furthermore, several faculty members engage in research and direct labs and centers investigating surface and subsurface hydrology, biofilms and their use in wastewater treatment, polymeric sorbents for the removal of emerging contaminants, production of bioenergy by plants and algae, and advanced oxidation processes. Temple University also serves as the lead institution for the NSF-funded Water and Environmental Technology (WET) Center. More information about the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering can be found here.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering will be offered beginning fall 2015.
