The College of Engineering at Temple University is poised for transformational growth through significant hiring within the College and a Campus Master Plan to expand University capacity intellectually and physically including major construction of new research space. As part of this process, the College of Engineering is inviting applications for two tenure track faculty positions as well as one non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Assistant Professor level.
Areas of expertise include but are not limited to any areas of computer engineering, autonomous systems, and modernization of energy and infrastructure systems.
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or closely related fields. Successful candidates are expected to establish active externally funded research programs and to achieve excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Salaries for new faculty are highly competitive, and substantial resources have been allocated for start-up funding.
The College of Engineering is located at Temple University’s main campus, in the thriving city of Philadelphia – a city at the forefront of science and technology. Philadelphia is also the second largest city on the east coast and home to historic events, such as the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Temple University, founded in 1888, is one of the nation's distinguished comprehensive universities with an enrollment over 40,000, and is an invaluable asset for the intellectual, economic, and social enrichment of Pennsylvania. The Department currently has 17 full time faculty, 370+ undergraduate students, and 50+ graduate students, and offers academic programs leading to ABET accredited BSEE, MSEE and ECE PhD degrees.
The Department has a growing research program that includes power systems, cyber security, sensing systems, neural engineering, signals, and communication with external funding from various federal and industrial sources including NSF, NIH, ONR, NASA, DoD, and DARPA. In addition, the faculty has strong research collaboration with Temple Medical School, Department of Bioengineering, Department of Computer and Information Science, Fox School of Business, and Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, the hub of future electric ships.
