The Engineering Program is to be accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,

ABET Program Educational Objectives

  1. Graduates will be employed in industries, academia and state or federal government agencies.
  2. Graduates will advance their professional standing through graduate and/or professional degrees or lifelong learning.
  3. Graduates will contribute to their profession and to society.

ABET Student Outcomes

(A) An ability to apply current knowledge and applications of mathematics, science, engineering and technology
(B) An ability to design and conduct laboratory experiments as well as analyze and interpret data to improve processes
(C) An ability to creatively design a system, component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
(D) An ability to function effectively on multi-disciplinary teams
(E) An ability to identify, formulate, analyze and solve technical and engineering problems
(F) An understanding of professional, ethical and social responsibilities
(G) An ability to communicate effectively in writing, speaking and making presentations
(H) The broad education necessary to understand the impact of technical and engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental and societal context
(I) A recognition of the need for, and the ability to engage in life-long learning
(J) A knowledge of contemporary issues including diversity
(K) An ability to use the techniques, skills and modern technical tools necessary for technical or engineering practice
